Math Placement Test Sign-Up: https://www.timothyministry.org/resources/mathplacement.cfm
If you are plan to enroll your student for the first time in one of our middle or high school math classes for the 2020-2021 school year, the student will need to take a placement test. Students who are currently in an academic math class at Timothy Ministry do not have to take the placement test. A grade of ‘C’ or higher in their current math class will allow them to move on to the next math class.
The purpose of this test is to assist you in determining your child’s readiness for one of the following math courses: Basic Mathematics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry.
Books, notes, calculators, and other people CANNOT be consulted during the test.
Your child should show all work. The test is multiple choice and many students may be able to answer some questions accurately simply by using the “process of elimination.”
In order to test all prerequisite skills, this test is relatively detailed (long).
Each question is worth 3 points.
# missed Grade
1-3 A Student is prepared
4-6 B Student is prepared
7-10 C Remedial work needed
11+ F Recommendation given for placement
A Timothy Ministry math teacher will review your child’s test and advise you on placement or remedial work. A student sometimes fails a test because they are making the same mistake repeatedly or are simply missing one concept.
